The Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home is what is coined a "Mom and Pop Operation." Owned and operated by Jean and Richard Thompson, Richard is a more of a behind-the-scene person. However, you might see him shoveling snow or mowing grass depending on the season, also he performs many of the maintenance and business needs of the business. Jean, on the other hand, well she does the rest. She meets the families, does the embalming, and handles all the necessary situations that arise to make a memorable service for the families.

Jean graduated from the Northwestern High School in 1981 and went on to earn her business degree at Erie Business Center. She met her husband, Richard and they were married in 1985 a year before her grandfather, Lester V. Evans passed away. Jean graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1988, finished her internships and became licensed in the profession in 1990. She re-opened the funeral home that her grandfather had wanted to remain functioning after his passing and it has been going ever since. This last year, 2018, marked our 85th year in business. We have seen many changes and have tried to implement many new ideas and changes into our operations. Consumer education has become very important to our funeral home as well as grief therapy. As always, we are constantly looking for ways to make our services to our families meaningful and memorable in only a way that their loved one would want.

Small? Yes! That gives us more time to give you and your families what they need during such a difficult time. Perfect? Heavens - No! But we are constantly striving for doing what is right and in a big way. We may be a small funeral home, but we have "Big" ideas and dreams. No, we are not perfect in any way. We are always looking for ways to become better, new ideas to give you better service, new techniques to keep up on the industry and we also believe strongly in continuing education where many of the new ideas and techniques are learned. Again, we are here for you and your family. Drop us a line or give us a call. Stop by for coffee and chat. We always like to meet new people and make new friends.
