Sigrid Holliday
Sigrid Holliday, born Laura Sigrid Henley, departed Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at her home in Fairport, NY where she resided the last couple of years.
Sigrid was born in Schenectady, New York on October 5, 1922, the daughter of the late Erl Kunkel and Josie May (Craig) Henley.
Mrs. Holliday graduated from Cornell University in 1943 where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority and went to work for the General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY. Later she worked for the Lady Fair Shop in Girard, Pa. She was also a member in the Springfield Service Circle.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Holliday is preceded in death by her husband, George Gray Holliday, in 1995. She married him on July 2, 1943. She is also preceded in death by two sons, Robert Henley Holliday and an infant son, Erl Craig Holliday and by two grandchildren.
Mrs. Holliday is survived by three daughters: Lynne Holliday Beller and her husband, James, of Snyder, NY; Kathryn Lee Holliday of Washington, D.C.; and Janice Holliday Haefner and her husband, Christopher, of Pittsford, NY; and a son: William Blakeley Holliday and his wife, Julia, of North Springfield, PA. Also surviving are 12 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren.
A family and friends gathering will be held at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home at 11883 Main Street, East Springfield, PA on Sunday, October 5, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m. The family will have a private service and burial on Monday. Mrs. Holliday will be laid to rest next to her husband George in Springfield Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department, Erie City Mission or to the charity of one’s choice.
