Richard “Rick” Burman Casto, Jr.

Richard Casto, Jr., known to many as “Rick” passed away on Friday morning, February 9, 2024 at his home with his family beside him.

Rick was born in Girard, Pennsylvania on February 28, 1957, the son of the late Richard B.  and Betty (Confer) Casto, Sr.  He proudly graduated from the Girard High School Class of 1975.  He met his wife, Luann Stratton and they were married on May 20, 1985 and together they raised three beautiful children.  Jamie, Louise, and Richard the 3rd.

Rick was a loving and outgoing man.  He loved spending time with his family and had a way of making you feel special.  He would get so excited when it came to card night with his granddaughter, Jessica.   Rick spent hours in the garage with his grandson, David Jr., tinkering with the cars and he was full of smiles when giving his grandsons Leland and Aiden tractor rides around the neighborhood.

Rick really enjoyed playing pool and was a self-proclaimed pool shark.  He also enjoyed riding his electric bike, hunting, shooting, camping and sitting around a campfire laughing and joking with his family.  Rick was all around an amazing, selfless, sweet man who enjoyed the simple things in life.  He was very dedicated to his family and friends and was ALWAYS there to lend a helping hand or go the extra mile.  He will always be cherished and loved.

Besides his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his Father-in-law, Elwood “Woody” Dautrich; a brother-in-law, Fredrick Peskorski, Sr.; and his sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Lomax.

He is survived and will be missed by his wife of 38 years, Luann (Stratton) Casto; two daughters,

Jamie (David) Kiehlmeier and Louise (Gabriel) Negron; and son, Richard (Lacey) Casto, 3rd; also four grandchildren:  Jessica (Anthony) Leone, David Kiehlmeier(Katey), Leland and Aiden Negron.  He also will be missed by three sisters, Rose Peskorski, Wanda (Andy) Franz, and Norma Casto; and two brothers, Robert (Carmen) Casto and John Casto.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, 11883 Main Street, East Springfield, Pa on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to a Life Celebration Service In Memory of Rick on Friday at 1 p.m. with burial following in the Dunn Valley Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his dad.
