John R. Graves, Sr.

John R. Graves, Sr., of Albion, Pa went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 4, 2021  at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie, Pa.

John was born on April 26, 1921, in Albion, PA, the son of the late Andrew M. and Grace P. (Mead) Graves. John Graduated from the Albion High School and became a truck driver for many years. He was a member of the Keepville Methodist Church and in his earlier years, he raised hogs on the farm and enjoyed gardening.

Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Strait, and a brother, Andrew M. Graves, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Jane (Crooks) Graves; two sons,John R. Graves, Jr. (Bobbie) of Albion, James A. Graves (S.J.) of Taylor, SC; and three daughters, Judy A. Hornstrom of Erie, Barbara L. Barron (Kent) of Lake City, and Dorothy J. Szymczak (Steve) of Barboursville, VA; and two step-daughters, Marge Burke and Kathy Eisaman (Paul) both of Greensburg, PA. He is also survived by 14 wonderful grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Friends and Family may call at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home at 11883 Main Street, East Springfield, Pa on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 1 to 3 pm with a Life Celebration Service to follow officiated by Pastor Byron Gurnee of the Keepville Methodist Church. Burial will be in Springfield Cemetery.
