Frances M. Harrington

April 30, 1929 — December 16, 2025

Albion

Frances Harrington, 96, passed away peacefully on December 16th, 2025. She was born in Girard on April 30, 1929, daughter of the late John and Ernestine Theberry Faytak. In addition to her parents, Fran was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, William “Bill” Harrington, an infant son Matthew, her 8 siblings, and her daughter-in-law Jeri Harrington.

She is survived by her children Brad (Su) Harrington of Rio Dell, California; Helen (Richard VanDyke) Boyer of Erie; Nancy (Greg) Bricker of Fairview; Bob (Sherry Ullom) Harrington of Albion; and Jane Harrington of Lake City. She is also survived by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Frances graduated from Union High School in Girard, PA and remained close with her classmates (“the Club Ladies”) for decades. She worked at Marx Toys following graduation, and then on the Harrington farm following marriage. She was a member of Saint Lawrence Church and was a regular at the Albion Senior Center. Fran was the Albion Fair’s first Senior Fair Queen.

Fran was known for her kind heart and a ready smile. Those who knew her well appreciated her saucy sense of humor. She enjoyed painting watercolor landscapes, gardening, dancing, refinishing and re-upholstering furniture, going to the casino, and playing cards by the hour. Even at 96, she still enjoyed dressing up for Halloween, sporting costumes ranging from Raggedy Ann to a biker chick.

A visiting hour will begin at 10:00 AM on December 27th at the Saint Lawrence Church in Albion, to be immediately followed by a memorial Mass at 11:00.

The family would like to thank their mother’s caregiver Pam, and the wonderful nurses in the ICU for taking such good care of her during her final hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Albion Library, the Albion Fair, or the Albion Senior Center.
