Doris Lucille (Pierce) Daub
Doris L. Daub, 99, passed away November 24, 2021, at UPMC Hamot Hospital. Formerly of Conneaut, Doris was a longtime resident of West Springfield and graduated from West Springfield High School.
Born on July 18, 1922, in Girard, PA, she was the daughter of the late Merle and Bessie (Hogoboom) Pierce. She was preceded in death by her husband Bennett Daub, whom she married February 26, 1942, and her sister Mary Jane Lahnan. Survivors include her brother-in-law, Larry Lahnan, Sr., of Streetsboro, OH; two daughters; Mary Ann Merski of Erie and Peggy (Louis) Trizna of Conneaut; five grandchildren; Jackie Risley (Eric Proegler) of Oakland, CA; Nichole (Matt) Reiser of Erie; Alisa (Stuart) Innes of Chesapeake, VA; Jillian (Greg) Benson of Copley, OH; and Louis “Zoli” (Beth) Trizna of Minneapolis; seven great-grandchildren; Maria Mauriello (Bryan) Fosburg; Anthony Mauriello; Eddie, Eleanor and Alice Benson, and Elaine and Edith Trizna; and two nieces and a nephew.
Doris had a lifelong love of horses and kept horses of her own at their home in West Springfield. For a number of years, she volunteered with a non-profit that provided horseback riding experiences for special needs children. An avid animal lover, she always had at least one dog or cat in her home.
Doris was a longtime member of the West Springfield United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was also a member of the Springfield Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and for many years could be found alongside her husband managing BINGO prizes at the annual Fireman’s Carnival and manning the popcorn stand at the Albion Area Fair.
Doris and her husband were members of the Gem City Rock and Mineral Society for Several decades. She enjoyed making and collecting jewelry and collecting gem and mineral specimens. She was also a member of the US Mail Rural Carriers Auxiliary.
A memorial life celebration will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the West Springfield United Methodist Church with Terry Campbell at 10 a.m., officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions to be made in Honor of Doris Daub to the ANNA Shelter, 1555 E 10th St, Erie, PA 16511.
