Denton L. Hall
Denton L. Hall, age 77 of East Springfield, Pa., passed away surrounded by his family at UPMC Hamot Hospital on Monday, September 22, 2025 in Erie, Pa.
Denton was born in Geneva, Pa on July 5, 1948, the son of the late Alden and Elma Lou (White) Hall, Sr. He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1966 and was drafted into the US. Army where he served three years during the Vietnam War at both the 82nd and 101st Airborn divisions at Ft Bragg, NC. During his military career he started out as a radio operator and earned the rank of Sargent and earned two Bronze Stars, one with Valor, two Purple Hearts, an Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantrymans Badge, and his Parachute Badge. Denton was very proud to have served in the Army and liked telling his story to all of his children and nieces and nephews. After he came home from the service, he went directly to work at the P&C Dock Co. in Conneaut, Ohio where he worked as a heavy equipment operator and a locomotive operator for thirty years.
Denton was a life member of the West Springfield VFW Post #4965 and also the Girard American Legion Post #494. In his spare time, Denton liked to play card games; especially Texas Hold-Em, camping, and he was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler Fan, and most of all, spending time with his son and daughter and all the grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Denton is preceded in death by his brother, Alden C. Hall, Jr. (Squeak).
He is survived by his son, Carl (Amy) Hall of Conneaut, OH and his daughter, Denise Hall of East Springfield, Pa., and a God daughter, Kelli Ray; and four brothers: Carl (Bonnie) Hall of West Virginia, Daryl Hall, Mike (Lisa) Hall, and John (Brenda) Hall all of East Springfield and five Grandchildren, four Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends are invited to call at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, 11883 Main Street, East Springfield, Pa on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from Noon until 2 p.m. and are invited to attend Graveside Services with Military Honors by both the Girard American Legion #494 and the Military Honor Guard from Ft. Meade at Springfield Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Keith Nitschke, officiating from the United Church of Springboro. There will be a continuation of his Life at the Springfield VFW immediately following the graveside services.
