Frances M. (Barker) Hawk
Frances May Hawk, age 99 of Lake City, formerly of East Springfield, Pa., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Fairview Manor where she had been recently residing.
She was born on May 11, 1917 in East Springfield, Pa., the daughter of the late Charles S. and Cora (Carter) Barker.
Frances graduated as Class Valedictorian from West Springfield High School and worked for many years at the Erie County Hospital, known today as Pleasant Ridge Manor. She was a member of the Federated Church and Golden Circle at the Church. She cooked for Pastor’s Group and was noted for making her treats for the Retire Group for many years at the Church and taught Sunday school at the West Springfield Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending the Springfield Senior Center and was a past associate member of the Springfield Women’s Club. Frances also enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, and making candy.
Besides her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husbands: Raymond Hawk, Sr., and Clifford T. Wickersham; a son, Robert Stoliker; a grandson, Stephen Stoliker; and a brother, Robert Barker.
She is survived by a Daughter-in-law, Ivarene Stoliker; a Granddaughter, Eleanor (Gary) Krom both of Virginia Beach, VA; three Step-Sons: David Wickersham of Overland Park, KS; Philip Wickersham of Bedford, TX; and Raymond L. Hawk, Jr.; two Step-Daughters: Carol (Dave) Pringle of Stevens Point, WI and Pamela Roberts of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by several Step-Grandchildren and a Niece, Dianne (Walt) Patchett of Breesport, NY and Special Friends: Vance Payne, Denny, John, Marve and Betty Hartman. Many thanks to all who have helped me over the years.
Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 10 a.m. until the time of the services at 11:30 at the Federated Church, Main Street, East Springfield, Pa., with Pastor Ed Huntley, officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Memory of Frances Hawk to the Federated Church, the Springfield Volunteer Fire Dept., Regional Home Health Hospice, or the Anna Shelter.
